More canoeing pictures!

Marcie got some great pictures of our canoe adventure - here goes!
It's a three person canoe...not.

Torque actually laying down - a first

Hahaha I don't know how we managed to keep them in there - it was funny!

This was POST our first capsize. Swim for your life Torque! Actually, we we're in control in this picture, but when it first happened we couldn't get footing on the rocks, and I thought I was going to have to seriously swim. Fortunately, we were all fine, and got to shore.

Summer!

It's finally summer! I say this because we had our first canoe trip of the year. We only got to go once last year around this time, and Torque was a LOT smaller then. I wasn't sure how it would be this time. However, we only tipped over twice within 20 minutes. The first time was not Torque's fault actually, the second totally was. Fortunately the only thing lost in the capsizing was the leash.

6 of us went, all girls from work - and we had a blast!!!

Here is a picture from last year:
Awwwww, look how wittle!!

AND NOW.....

I think I am going to get him a life vest. He LOVES, loves, loves the water, but I worry that he isn't strong enough in a current. That way I won't have to worry about him. I'll post more pictures soon - a couple of the girls got some cute ones that they're going to send me.

Happy start to summer everyone!! Get out there and get your vitamin D!

Oh my knee!

I don't feel like life has skipped a beat since I've been back home. Monday was a busy day, and started out with us meeting Julia at the farm for a hike. Torque was being a butthead, and I should have let it go, but I was irritated and stubborn. I will add that when you wrestle with your 115lb dog you will lose. He was bouncing around and hit the outside of my right leg with his butt which promptly dislocated my knee. Fortunately, I must have great tendons and such because the kneecap popped right back into place. The pain however was not fun, and unfortunately it has stayed around all week. It's better than the first day where I had steady pain all the time, but still! I think that it's mainly all the muscles, tendons, etc on the inside of my knee that are having to recover. Yeah, I wouldn't recommend it...

As for the garden - why it is growing like gangbusters! I've put some Miracle Grow on them when I'm watering, and it's helping. The potting soil must just have needed a little help. I think that I'm going to have a great pea and bean harvest, and I can't wait!

I will have to post again soon, because there are other updates for you!

More Chicago!

I'm tired, I have a dirty house that needs to be cleaned, but I wanted to post some more pictures from our conference trip!

All the girls at the John Hancock Tower

We saw the NBC studio!

Even here there are rocks! WOT and SFL will be so proud - I took this picture just for them.

We got to get ice cream too - really good ice cream!

Fattened sigh...

I am sitting on a hotel bed watching Princess Diaries with my travel-mate C. after having eaten a great Mexican dinner at Su Casa...I'm stuffed!

The Pre-Conference day was great, we learned a lot, and were full of smart/hilarious/possibly-inappropriate-at-times comments. The conference center is HUGE. It has its own 20 something bus loading/unloading dock! Plus it's own gift shop, floors of conference rooms, a gigantic ballroom where we had got to attend a sit down luncheon with a salad, 1/2 bbq'd chicken with cheesy potatoes and green beans, and cheese cake with berries for desert. How crazy! We had no idea.

So much of the big city is wonderful, exciting, and fun...but I still don't think I would want to live here full time. Ok, enough talking - more later!
